Carolina Rigs

About This Technique:

The Carolina Rig is a method to rig soft plastic baits so they maintain bottom contact throughout the entire retrieve while also having a free-floating natural presentation. To set up a Carolina Rig, start by choosing your favorite soft plastic worm, crayfish, or creature bait. Next, choose the appropriately sized EWG (Extra Wide Gap) hook. Tie the hook and the bait on a 1'-3' leader line, then tie the leader line to a crane swivel. On your main line, attach the appropriately sized bullet weight and a bobber stopper to secure it. The deeper the water you're fishing, the heavier the bullet weight you'll need. Lastly, tie the main line to the free end of the crane swivel. Menace Baits offers a variety of top quality soft plastics and the necessary tackle to make a Carolina Rig. Shop our Carolina Rig kits, fishing lures, and tackle below!
